Complete First Aid Course
Previously known as HSE First aid at work course
The Complete First aid Course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed by first aiders in most workplaces to become a confident first aider at work.
It provides both the knowledge and ability to deal with first aid emergencies and meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations.
Who should attend?
The Complete First Aid course provides in-depth training for people who are required to be first aiders within the workplace. The course syllabus is as specified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and is fully compliant with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.
The course is designed for those workplaces that fall into a higher risk category (e.g. engineering, manufacturing, warehousing, construction, chemicals) and whose workforce has a variety of underlying health conditions (e.g. heart problems, diabetes, anaphylaxis, high blood pressure).
What you will learn?
On completion of training, successful candidates will be able to:
Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:
The importance of preventing cross infection.
The need for recording incidents and actions.
Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
Recognize the presence of major illness (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes) and provide appropriate first aid.
The course will cover how to deal with the following:
Communication and casualty care
Low blood sugar
Asthma
Poisoning
Low blood sugar
Resuscitation (adult CPR)
Bone, muscle and joint injuries
Seizures (adult)
Poisoning
Severe allergic reaction
Choking (adult)
Spinal injuries
Eye injuries
Unresponsive casualty
Fainting
Head injuries
Course duration
Three days.
Assessment
Students who attended our first aid courses will be assessed throughout the course and are required to pass a final practical assessment and multiple choice question paper.
Candidates need a basic command of English. Please contact us if you need any extra guidance.
Certification
Successful candidates receive a Nightingale Medics ‘Complete First Aid’ certificate, valid for three years.
There is a minimum group booking of 10 candidates required for each course.
